Kalasi Naduddam (Telugu)

Distincts dream from real life - Kalasi Naduddam

Kalasi Naduddam is a movie that reflects the struggle of middle class families with two different psychologies. It narrates the result of war between the practical and dream sequences of life.

Kodi Ramakrishna, who is capable of presenting any story in a spectacular mould, directed this film to perfection once again. He added strength to the story of struggle. The characters and the drama between them give a shock treatment to the middle class minds, which thinks of amassing wealth through easy money. Especially the male lot of middle class ideology is picturised in a fantastic and impressive manner. The struggle for protecting the hard earnings is replicated through the character played by Soundarya.

Krishna (Srikanth) is a middle class employee and Vijaya (Soundarya) his wife, are leads in the movie. Krishna always rides on the dream horse and his spontaneous and unmindful decisions make him suffer and stand at the crossroads all the time. A totally different pole temperament is embossed in Vijaya. She lounges for a gradual and hard work founded comfortable life.

The characters reveal the confusion created and loss suffered by the family, especially the middle class, if there is no proper tuning between husband and wife. Vijaya is a powerful female character representing the middle class, which professes that there would be no failure if both husband and wife respect each other’s ideologies and work for the good of the family. Vijaya can relate to females who are not given audience by their husband though her suggestions are valuable and might avert losses. Krishna also does the same with curses whenever Vijaya tries to give a good strategy and ill-treats her with humiliating statements.

The self-sufficient public sector employee Krishna without considering the aftermath's resigns his secure job dreaming to earn lakhs and crores in business. His investment into the business comprises of the dowry amount and jewellery of his wife. Krishna loses every thing in business and stands insolvent. He never heeds to the advises or pleads of Vijaya while ruining himself and the economical situation of the family.

On the contrary, Vijaya with her intelligent working earns sizeable amounts for the safety of the family and stands a model role to the middle class womenfolk. The common psychology of a middle class husband is to undergo an inferiority complexion when his wife is excelling and he is failing. Srikanth effectively mirrors this for his role in the movie. Moreover, instead of understanding her efforts and supporting her, he wishes to branch off from her permanently.

Of course, at the end he acknowledges his mistakes and confesses in front of his family and friends. He understands at the end that unless husband and wife run the family on a parallel sense of right and wrong, the family turns over. Srikanth almost lived to replicate a middle class husband, while Soundarya presented yet another masterpiece performance with justice to the struggling wife character.

Brahmanandam, M S Narayana, Sudhakar, L B Sriram and Mallikarjuna Rao smoothly carry on the lighter vein of the movie. Music composing of S A Raj Kumar is of average rating. Director Kodi Ramakrishna without much dependence on the music guided the family sentiment so sensitively that it attracts the common spectator. Censor Board also presented an “U” certificate to the film’s simplicity.
