Toli Valapu (Telugu)

Toli Valapu, too weak an output from strong hands

When Toli Valapu was on the sets and in the recording theatre, there were many expectations on the quality of the film both in the industry and in the large audience. Two reasons were attributed for the anticipation of quality. One being a senior hand like Muthyala Subbaiah is taking charge of the director’s seat, next being the hero Gopi Chand.

T Krishna is regarded, though he is no more, as one of the memorable directors and Gopi Chand happens to be son of such sensational director. Muthyala Subbaiah incidentally happens to be one of the close associates of T Krishna. The combination of these two automatically raised the success probability levels.

In the current trend of repeatedly and countlessly twisted love stories presentation on the silver screen, the life and the point of holding water will be screenplay. If screenplay is comprehensively excellent then it would definitely pull crowds to the movie house. Otherwise, the movie goes for a toss. Toli Valapu faces the same, though its story line can be considered ok.

The final product could not attract cine goers though strong hand like Muthyala Subbaiah is in the chair.

None the less the story narrated in the movie goes like this, Hero on an unlucky night parks his favourite motor cycle in front of Chandra Mohan’s residence. The next morning hero stuns as his mobike disappears. Hero goes for an argument with the house owner, Chandra Mohan about his motorcycle. Chandra Mohan explains hero about his innocence in the issue of motorbike. Hero mistakes Chandra Mohan to have embezzled his vehicle.

Later, Gopi Chand comes to know of the truth. The same night, when his motorbike was parked in front of Chandra Mohan’s house, miscreants loot every thing of Chandra Mohan including his daughter Sneha’s virginity. Gopi loves Sneha at the first sight. Even after knowing pretty well that Sneha was raped, Gopi strongly inclines to marry her. After the cinematic twists and disturbances at the end of the movie, he gets to wed Sneha.

Gopi should be applauded for his ease of acting, though this is his debut, similar to an experienced and exposed actor. He can shine if he gets few opportunities with good stories with strength. Sneha lived her character on par with Gopi Chand. Ravi Shanker who played heroine’s brother-in-law character will be received well.

Ravi Shanker presented a perfectionist performance as villain. Of course, the excellent acting genes of P J Sharma (his father), Sai Kumar (elder brother) and their saga are continued with him. He might in the near future shine as a classical villain, provided he gets the right characters.
